23rd Psalm

This affirmation by David of his Higher Power can be ours:

Jesus, you are my good shepherd, my Higher Power, therefore I shall not want, I have no lack.

You make me lie down to rest, to stop striving, in your green nourishing pasture beside quiet, calm and safe drinking water. You met all my physical needs.

You alone restore, refresh, replenish my soul – my real self – that I lost in my addiction. You give me back to me.

You enable me to walk on your righteous path, not the world’s, where I can live sober.

Even if I have to walk in the valley where death looms, I won’t be afraid because your rod of protection and your staff of guidance keep me safe.

Then you even prepare for me all I need even when I am surrounded by danger, by the evil that seeks to bring me back into bondage of addiction.

You anoint me with your healing oil of love.

My life cup overflows with all your loving provisions.

And I find that all Your good and all Your mercy are with me every minute of my life.

And then, Lord, I will live with You forever after my time here is over.

Thank you and Amen.
